•Jesus Hebrew name: Yeshua = Joshua – no J in Hebrew. Yeshua means = he who makes free.
•Easter morning – the greatest event in history. A moveable feast (not fixed in relation to civil calendar). Like the atonement and resurrection, it is always present, always available to us, always an invitation to come unto Jesus, our Christ.
•Because the Jewish scribes and other before them gradually changed the full Law of Moses as taught to the prophets of old, the mission of Jesus was necessary to restore the truths that had been forgotten or misunderstood. His life and teachings were the most important bestowal of truth upon humankind. Split history down the middle.
•Linked to the Jewish Passover: as the Jews were freed of Egypt’s tyranny to be saved by the Lord and led to their promised land of Canaan, so mankind be free of death, through Christ he can know eternal life with the Savior- the promised land – and be as God is.
•At the Last Supper he instructed his apostles in their roles as disciples and teachers of men. Jesus predicts he will suffer soon after this meal and it will be his last meal prior to finishing his work on behalf of the kingdom of God (Luke 22:15-16). Second, Jesus gives His followers symbols of remembrance for his body and his blood sacrificed on behalf of all mankind.
•In the Garden of Gethsemane he offered his life for mankind and took upon himself our sinfulness – if we repent and increase our spiritual understanding, give up our will to his, we can become as he is.
•On Golgotha’s hill he sacrificed his life for mankind, paid for Adam’s sin and overcame the Fall, freeing us from that responsibility. His atonement is our greatest hope. It is a celebration of the resurrection of Christ.
•Jesus was our perfect example – a prophet, priest and king. When we follow him we can be cleansed through baptism, justified through the Holy Ghost and sanctified through his blood that was spilled for us. His atonement is real and constantly alive and working for and with those who come to him.
•
Jesus chose Joseph Smith to be the prophet of the Restoration of the true Gospel. Through the LDS church we are invited to the feast of the milk and the meat of the Gospel. We have temples on the earth again where we can take upon ourselves the covenants that bind us to our eternal families forever and prepare us for immortality, perfection and becoming like Heavenly Father.
•Qualities of the Savior that he wants us to have: patient, slow to anger, full of graciousness, the wine of life, one eternal god unlimited in power and love and forgiveness, compassionate, full of mercy and truth.
• He is the wine of life, the bread of life, the way, the truth, the life, the light.
